Irish Biltong featured on last night's Six O'Clock show on TV3, Tuesday 31st of January 2017.
The Six O'Clock Show is a popular evening-time television show that is broadcast live on TV3 each weekday for an hour featuring chat, cooking, topical items, showbiz and entertainment.
Each evening a chef comes into the kitchen and demonstrates how to make some tasty dishes with a difference for your evening meal. Last night renowned chef Gary O'Hanlon was in the kitchen and had a delicious recipe for a warm salad of Biltong Carpaccio with Beetroot, Wild Mushroom,Parmesan & Spiced Walnut Crumble using the Irish Biltong Company range of gourmet beef snacks.
Within the feature Gary discussed with the guests biltong's origins from South Africa and how the beef snack is growing in popularity in Ireland particularly with athletes and rugby players and how Irish Biltong is already a big hit with the IRFU players who eat it regularly as a healthy snack.
Gary also commented how the fabulous Biltong he was using for the recipe was made by Noreen Doyle & her husband John on their farm in Kildare. In preparing the dish Gary used the Chilli flavour to add some heat to the salad and combined it with a mix of Irish baby beets and wild mushrooms tossed with romain leaf lettuce, all garnished with shaved Parmesan, crushed walnuts and dressed in a honey and mustard vinaigrette dressing.
The dish was a great hit with Martin and all the guests and was commended for how quick it was to prepare.
