Ampersand are thrilled to have won three gold star awards, six silver awards and six bronze at the Irish Wine Show Star Awards held on the 5th of October 2020. In total there were 45 wines on the night that won awards at the virtual ceremony and Ampersand were awarded 15 of these across various categories making them the company that won the most awards by any company at the Irish Wine Show to date.
This is an excellent achievement for Ampersand as in excess of 600 wines were submitted to the Star Award adjudication panel of NOffLA judges and independent wine journalists. Points were awarded on the basis of appearance, smell, taste and value for money criteria, and the winning 15 were selected as the best wines from key suppliers across a number of price categories.
Ampersand won 3 GOLD STAR AWARDS for Rioja Vega Semi Crianza 2019, Meerestein Chenin/Pinot Grigio 2019 and The Landings Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon 2019.
Ampersand won 6 SILVER AWARDS with The Landings Colombard/Chardonnay 2019, Meerestein Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Pasqua Le Collezioni Pinot Grigio 2019, Lolo Albarino 2019, Cecilia Beretta Soraie Passite Veneto 2017 & Cecilia Beretta Prosseco Superiore Valdobbiadene 2019.
Ampersand also won 6 BRONZE AWARDS with Santa Carolina Sauvignon Blanc 2020, La Granja Verdejo Viura 2019, Hans Baer Pinot Blanc 2019, Les Roseraies Rosé d'Anjou Loire 2018, The Cloud Factory Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2019 and Diaguita Malbec 2019.
Ampersand also won ALL the awards in the NEW WOLRD UNDER €10 CATEGORY. In the NEW WORLD WHITE UNDER €10 we won Gold for Meerestein Chenin/Pinot Grigio 2019, Silver for The Landings Colombard/Chardonnay 2019 & Bronze for Santa Carolina Sauvignon Blanc 2020.
In the NEW WORLD RED UNDER €10 category, Ampersand also won ALL the awards by winning Gold for The Landings Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Silver for Meerestein Shiraz/Mourvedre 2018 and Bronze for Diaguita Malbec 2019! That's ALL SIX AWARDS in the NEW WORLD UNDER €10 CATEGORY!
On winning the awards Willie Dardis, Wine Manager/Buyers stated; “These awards again represents a major boost to the wine portfolio, it will help increase sales, to gain new business in both our existing outlets, and create the opportunity to develop new accounts. It will also help to endorse and sell through all the wines in our portfolio”.
Now in its twentieth year, the winning wines from the Irish Wine Show Star Awards will be available to consumers all over the country from NOffLA outlets. Ampersand will be promoting these wines at special trade prices and will also have a supporting suite of POS to encourage sell-through in store.
Each of the winning wines will be sold in NOffLA member outlets, of which there are more than 315 nationwide. The chosen wines will be recognisable by distinctive Award symbols on each bottle. In the pre-Christmas period NOffLA members will also promote the Irish Wine Show Star Awards 2020-2021 Collection as ideal Christmas gifts, in a variety of special gift packs.
