Ampersand are thrilled to have won three gold star awards, seven silver awards and seven bronze at the Irish Wine Show Star Awards held on the 4th of October 2021. In total there were 45 wines on the night that won awards at the virtual ceremony and Ampersand were awarded 17 of these across various categories making them the company that won the most awards by any company at the Irish Wine Show to date.
This is an excellent achievement for Ampersand as in excess of 600 wines were submitted to the Star Award adjudication panel of NOffLA judges and independent wine journalists. Points were awarded on the basis of appearance, smell, taste and value for money criteria, and the winning 17 were selected as the best wines from key suppliers across a number of price categories.
Ampersand won 3 GOLD STAR AWARDS for Asymmetric Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2020, Coral Reef Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 and Antares Sauvignon Blanc 2021.
Ampersand also won 7 SILVER AWARDS with Hans Baer Riesling 2020, Pasqua Le Collezioni Nero D'Avola DOC 2019, Mahler Besse Cheval Noir Sauvignon - Semillon AOP Bordeaux 2019, Meerestein Chenin-Pinot Grigio 2020, Meerestein Shiraz-Mourvedre 2020, Turno De Noche Malbec 2020 & Melea Organic Tempranillo Rosé 2020.
Ampersand also won 7 BRONZE AWARDS with Pasqua Le Collezioni Pinot Grigio DOC 2020, LOLO Albarino DOC 2020, Santa Carolina Cellar Selection Sauvignon Blanc 2021, Diaguita Malbec 2020, The Cloud Factory Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2020, Cecilia Beretta Prosecco Spumante DOC Rosé 2020 and Mal.Bek Rosé IGP D'Oc 2020.
Ampersand also won ALL the awards in the NEW WOLRD UNDER €10 CATEGORY.
In the NEW WORLD WHITE UNDER €10 we won Gold for Antares Sauvignon Blanc 2021, Silver for Meerestein Chenin-Pinot Grigio 2020 & Bronze for Santa Carolina Sauvignon Blanc 2021.
In the NEW WORLD RED UNDER €10 category, Ampersand also won ALL the awards by winning Gold for Coral Reef Shiraz Cabernet Sauvignon 2019, Silver for Meerestein Shiraz/Mourvedre 2020 and Bronze for Diaguita Malbec 2020! That's ALL SIX AWARDS in the NEW WORLD UNDER €10 CATEGORY!
Now in its twenty first year, the winning wines from the Irish Wine Show Star Awards will be available to consumers from NOffLA outlets across Ireland. Ampersand will be promoting these wines at special trade prices and will also have a supporting suite of POS to encourage sell-through in store.
Each of the winning wines will be sold in NOffLA member outlets, of which there are more than 315 nationwide. The chosen wines will be recognisable by distinctive Award symbols on each bottle. In the pre-Christmas period NOffLA members will also promote the Irish Wine Show Star Awards 2020-2021 Collection as ideal Christmas gifts, in a variety of special gift packs.
