Ampersand Wines Win 4 Gold, 7 Silver & 5 Bronze at the Irish Wine Show Awards

Ampersand are thrilled to have won four gold star awards, seven silver awards and five bronze at the Irish Wine Show Star Awards held on the 9^th of October 2023. In total there were 54 wines on the night that won awards. Ampersand’s 16 wins were across various categories.

 

 

 

 

The selection of winning wines was chosen by trained wine tasters using blind tasting techniques. Points were awarded based on appearance, smell, taste, and value for money criteria.

 

 

 

Having 16 wines in the winning categories is a fantastic achievement by Ampersand, particularly considering that more than 600 wines were submitted to the Star Award Adjudication panel.

Ampersand won 4 GOLD STAR AWARDS:

• Hans Baer Riesling 2022 – Best Old World White Under €12
• Rioja Vega Semi Crianza 2022 - Best Old World Red Under €12
• Remy Pannier Cepage de Loire Sauvignon 2022 – Best Old World White Under €15
• Faber Alcohol-Free Sparkling Rosé NV – Best Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Under €15

 

Ampersand also won 7 SILVER STAR AWARDS:

• La Granja Verdejo Viura 2022 - Best Old World White Under €12
• Perdido Tempranillo 2022 - Best Old World Red Under €12
• Cesari Justo IGT 2020 - Best Old World Red Under €15
• Baile del Sol Sauvignon Blanc 2022 - Best New World White Under €12
• Entreflores Rosado 2022 - Best Rosé Under €15
• Champagne Prestige des Sacres Brut NV – Best Sparkling Under €60
• Faber Alcohol-Free Chardonnay NV – Best Non-Alcoholic White Under €15

 

Ampersand continued the winning streak with 5 BRONZE STAR AWARDS:

• La Granja Tempranillo Garnacha 2021 – Best Old World White Under €12
• Baile del Sol Chardonnay 2021 – Best New World White Under €15
• Faber Alcohol-Free Sauvignon Blanc NV - Best Non-Alcoholic White Under €15
• Faber Alcohol-Free Cabernet Sauvignon NV – Best Non-Alcoholic Red Under €15
• Faber Alcohol-Free Sparkling White NV – Best Non-Alcoholic Sparkling Under €15

 

 

 

Ampersand won ALL awards in the Old World Red Under €12 category for Rioja Vega Semi Crianza 2022, Perdido Tempranillo 2022, and La Granja Tempranillo Garnacha 2021.

 

 

 

 

Ampersand has a stellar alcohol-free wine range, evident from the whopping 5 Star Awards received in the Non-Alcoholic categories.

 

 

 

 

Now in its twenty third year, the winning wines from the Irish Wine Show Star Awards will be available to consumers from NOffLA outlets across Ireland (of which there are more than 315). Ampersand will be promoting these wines at special trade prices and will also have a supporting suite of POS to encourage sell-through instore.

 

 

 

 

Reflecting on the wins, Ampersand Wine Buyer, Paul Raftery said, “This is a big achievement coming off of our success last year and gives us great momentum going into the Christmas period.”

 

 

 

 

The winning wines will be recognisable by distinctive Award symbols on each bottle. In the pre-Christmas period NOffLA members will promote the Irish Wine Show Star Awards 2023-2024 Collection as ideal Christmas gifts, in a variety of special gift packs.
