Rob Fox Appointed Managing Director of Ampersand
Ampersand, one of Ireland’s longest-established FMCG distributors, is pleased to announce the appointment of Rob Fox as its new Managing Director, following the retirement of Ciarán Scolard.
Rob’s appointment marks a new era for Ampersand, both as a strategic move in leadership and as the company sharpens its focus on the core FMCG category. With a renewed emphasis on distribution across convenience, impulse, and grocery channels, Ampersand is positioning itself for long-term growth and adaptability in the ever-evolving Irish retail landscape.
Rob becomes the third generation of the Fox family to lead Ampersand. He brings with him over 27 years of experience within the company, most recently as a Director responsible for the Handmade Cigar Portfolio and Duty Free / Travel Retail business units. His strategic insight, commercial acumen, and longstanding relationships with international brand partners make him well placed to guide Ampersand through this exciting new phase.
The leadership transition follows the recent announcement that Ampersand will be exiting the wine category—a sector that has been a proud part of the company’s offering for many years. Under Rob’s stewardship, the company will refocus its resources and expertise to grow its FMCG business and build on new brand partnerships in categories such as cigars, tobacco accessories and alternatives, confectionery, snacks and FMCG.

Ciarán Scolard retires after a distinguished career at Ampersand, having led the company through significant expansion and diversification. His commitment, vision, and passion have been instrumental in shaping the business as it stands today.
